Rumors is not a regular feed. There is no shady algorithm deciding whose voice carries. What sorts signal from noise is the community.
Signal, not noise. At a time when social networks have become a place where everyone seems to be an expert in everything but fails to provide any real value, Rumors offers a real solution. If the information is already public, carries no value, or seems to be fake news, it does not stay — whatever the person who posted it thinks.
Three reactions, and only three. seems plausible, seems fake, or already in the market. The first says it could be real edge. The second says it's bullshit. The third says it may be true, but it's public or priced-in — so it carries no edge. Enough weight on either of the last two, and a post fades from The Wall. Simple.
Anonymous by design. Nobody needs to know who is behind a post as long as there is no bots, aswell as a strong toxicity and illicit content moderation. To keep it that way while stopping bot armies, participation requires a proof of humanity (World ID) — a zero-knowledge proof that you are human, revealing nothing about who you are. One human = one account. If the account gets striked, the person won't be able to use Rumors ever again.
Your biometrics never touch Rumors. World ID checks humanity on your side and hands us only a cryptographic proof and an anonymous per-app token (a nullifier). Rumors never receives — and never stores — your face, your iris, your name or any biometric data. There is nothing here to leak. Even if our servers were dumped tomorrow, no one could tell who any member is.
A tiered ladder — each rung unlocks one more thing.
- Signed in — with an account you get a preview of the latest posts. Anonymous visitors see nothing: The Wall is members-only.
- Device-verified — a quick World ID device check, available anywhere. It unlocks the whole Wall to read. A phone farm can mint device proofs by the thousand, so this rung stops at reading — no posting, no voting.
- Verified human — a remote World ID Selfie check (liveness + uniqueness score), no Orb needed. This is how you earn the right to post and comment, a real voice from anywhere, France included.
- Unique human — the strongest World ID proof, done once at an Orb. It adds a distinctive badge and unlocks the vote (weight 2), because it's the hardest guarantee that one person can't quietly become many.
Why gate each rung this way? Ranking is the only thing bots can distort, and the vote is the lever — so the vote is reserved to Orb-verified unique humans a phone farm can't mass-produce. Posting sits one rung lower (Selfie), reading the whole Wall one rung lower still (device), and the door to join stays open to anyone.
World ID is a trust provider, not a gatekeeper we depend on blindly: if it ever became unavailable in your country, Rumors can add other anonymity-preserving proofs without rebuilding the club.
The removal rules, in the open. A post is removed from The Wall when, with a minimum of 10 votes in total, its combined “seems fake” and “already in the market” share goes over 70% — in other words, a post stays alive as long as fewer than 70% of its votes say it's bullshit or already priced-in. No moderators picking winners — just the community, by the numbers.
What never makes it to The Wall. Anonymity must never turn Rumors into a covert channel. Before anything is published, every post and comment is screened — and blocked on the spot — for: attempts to move people off-platform; scams and payment or crypto solicitation; personal or payment details; hate, threats and other toxic or illegal content; and anything not written in English (English-only, for now). Strong opinions are welcome — “this microcap will 10x”, “management are clowns” — that’s not what we remove.
Break the rules and you lose the room. Repeatedly getting content blocked earns strikes. A high-certainty violation — hate, threats, obvious scams — triggers an automatic suspension without waiting for a human; a repeat offence makes it permanent. Because participation is tied to a World ID nullifier, a ban follows the human, not just the account — you can’t simply sign up again. Suspensions can be temporary or permanent, and can be lifted if a removal is later found to be a false positive.
Every post is fingerprinted with a timestamped content hash, so the antecedence of a scoop can be proven later — without ever exposing its author.
